The Supergirl 2026 movie stars Milly Alcock as Supergirl or Kara. I decided to watch some reviews and Supergirl trailers on YouTube. I noticed many mixed reviews because most people were confused and they didn’t know how to rate this movie. But most people thought it was average and OK, as long as the viewer doesn’t have any expectations. Most people stated that the movie wasn’t about Supergirl.
Fast-paced, action-filled movie, dealing with depression, sex trafficking, & displacement

But such reviews noted that the movie was entertaining and action-filled, similar to the Superman movie, although they liked the Superman movie better. Someone mentioned that it was similar to Tank Girl, which is an entertaining dystopian movie. Some reviews noted that the Supergirl movie has dark content, such as sex trafficking, depression, and alcoholism. It is also noted that this movie isn’t for kids because of its dark content. Some YouTubers compared this movie to the Mad Max movie. The negative and positive reviews gave me a basic idea about the movie. I felt the YouTubers’ overall reviews created an interesting controversy about the movie that I was intrigued to check it out for myself. This movie also reminded me of the movie, Fifth Element, which was fun to watch.

The mixed reviews appeared to be from the viewers’ expectations, which weren’t met. The positive and negative reviews intrigued me about this movie. Some people noted that they would have liked this movie, if it wasn’t about Supergirl. Hence, they thought the story was good, but not for Supergirl, becaused they compared this movie to the comic book. I did not have any expectations because I have never read the comic book, and I thought the movie was interesting.

Watching the movie in 3D made the movie more interesting because of the flying scenes, fighting scenes, explosions, and action scenes. I thought the movie was an interesting introductory story for the character, Supergirl. The movie starts out, displaying Kara’s Space Van Life with Krypto. Their special bond is sweet because Krypto is her best friend and only friend, as well as her baby. But Kara appears to be a drunken slob, who is wasting away at bars as well as always hung over. She is a mess, living with her energetic dog, Krypto. She appears to have lost hope for life and cannot move on, since her parents sent her and Krypto on a round capsule to Earth for a better life and future. They emphasized the importance of doing good things. But she seems depressed because she misses her home and family, as she barhops at space bars, feeling lost. These space bars reminded me of Star Wars bars, filled mutant creatures. She appears to be lost, confused, and displaced, wandering around aimlessly with her dog at different bars.

At another area, a thirteen-year-old girl, Ruthye, watches Krem kill her family after he invaded their home to take swords. She becomes vengeful, wanting him dead to get justice for her family.
She runs into Kara, and she wants Kara to help her kill Krem. But Kara tries to explain that killing Krem will not solve anything. It will just fill her soul with hate, and make her as bad as Krem. As they hang out by her old space vehicle, which looks like a space camper, Krem enters her space vehicle. Krypto is the only one alert and aware. As he runs towards the space vehicle, Krem shoots an arrow with poison into Krypto. Kara and Ruthye quickly take Krypto to an Alien doctor to save the dog. The doctor says that Krypto has three days to live. He needs an antedote from Krem, or he will die in three days. Kara finally wakes up from her alcoholic brain-fog slumber because now she has a reason to live, a mission to save her best friend, as well as her only friend, Krypto. Ruthye tags along because she still wants to kill Krem. They go on a journey to find Krem. They encounter many people and obstacles on their journey. A couple, whose daughter was kidnapped for sex trafficking, drug Kara because they want to trade Kara and Ruthye for their daughter. But Kara quickly drinks some milk from their fridge to gain her power back. There are lots of fights and explosions in the movie, as Kara deals with space rogues. She has flashbacks about her past and her parents. She remembers her parents reiterating that she has the power to do good.

At the end, she puts on the Supergirl outfit, and she decides to fight for the needy people. Her power is mostly via her eyes. She releases many sex-trafficked young girls inside a cave by making a large hole in the cave, and many girls walk out. But the couple’s daughter is killed.

Ruthye comes close to killing Krem. But Kara begs her not to because she is a better person, and it will not solve anything. When Ruthye walks away, Kara stabs Krem twice, one for Krypto and one for Ruthye, before taking the antedote, hanging around his neck as a pendant. Kara and Ruthye return to Krypto, where the Alien doctor administers the antedote into Krypto and saves his life.
Superman makes a cameo role, a couple of times, mostly as Kara’s mentor to check on her wellbeing. He is like an older brother, even though he is actually her cousin. She often brushes him off because she doesn’t appear interested. Superman was raised in America, in a small town in Kansas, and Kara is still trying to adjust living in America, as a refugee from another planet. She speaks a different language that Superman never learned. But Kara still speaks English.

Hence, I feel this movie is the introduction of Supergirl, or Kara, and her struggle to adapt on Earth as a refugee. There will likely be more Supergirl movies in the future. I also felt that the movie was fast-paced, moving fast from one scene to the next. I did not feel that it dragged anywhere. But some scenes could have been developed more for a particular theme. The only theme I got was about getting to Krem for the antedote to save Krypto’s life within the three-day period, as well as killing Krem because he destroyed many people’s life. Lobo is happy that Supergirl killed Krem, as he hangs out at different areas, lurking by and sometimes fighting.
I thought Lobo looked like a KISS performer because of similar face makeup. This movie also introduced other characters, such as Lobo, Ruthye, and villains.
